“It’s all a pack of lies down here.” - Dr. Riki Ott, Ph.D., Marine Toxicologist
The true consequences of the BP spill are now just beginning to come to light. The Consequence of Oil project intends to shine a light on the actual long-term effects of the world’s largest offshore oil disaster and bring the voices of those directly affected out to the American public.

The BP/Deep Water Horizon explosion created the world’s largest toxic chemical and offshore oil disaster that has the potential to shift the entire global energy paradigm – IF the public stays focused and aware of the situation and it’s consequences.
Part I of The Consequence of Oil investigates the cover up of the massive amount of oil and chemical dispersants that are still in the ocean and marshes, the possibly illegal and toxic use of the dispersant Corexit in coastal population zones, and the continued effects of the spill on the Gulf environment, residents, and clean up crews.
As the mainstream media shifts away from the people and stories of the Gulf, Global Access Media’s 12-part documentary series, The Consequence of Oil, will continue to shine a light on the questions, concerns and allegations of the independent scientists, BP workers, fishermen and residents of the Gulf as they live the real consequences of the largest offshore industry oil disaster the world has ever known.

A DEEPER PERSPECTIVE
Project Director Mark Manning is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who worked un-embedded in Iraq, living with Iraqi civilians and covering the effects of the war on the Iraqi people, telling their stories through the documentary film The Road to Fallujah.
UNIQUE TO THIS PROJECT, he has over 20 years experience in the offshore oil industry with extensive experience in all the aspects of offshore operations that are being conducted today in relation to this crisis. He has experience capping sub-sea leaking wellheads for the very company tasked with the sub-sea work on the BP wellhead failure. This unique background will help to pierce the corporate veil of misinformation that exists due to the lack of understanding by the media of the complicated and mysterious nature of the offshore oil industry.
Manning’s background covering the consequences of war to Iraqi civilians further enhances and informs Global Access Media’s series coverage of the Gulf disaster. While the specifics are different, there is a striking similarity between the war in Iraq and the crisis in the Gulf. Both involve the perilous combination of people living in the midst of an ongoing and growing crisis with a lack of adequate investigative reporting. This combination breeds unnecessary suffering, lack of adequate procedures to address the crisis and resulting permanent damage.
